The contribution we make to the ADE community
Born from the initiative and values of several Sisters of Mercy and volunteers who sought meaningful employment opportunites for those whom were disadvantaged. The Cookery Nook now boast over 20 years experience in providing employment, voluntary and work experience placements along with training and professional development opportunities for people with a disability. The individual's employment status, therefore creates a positive economic outcome for the Community by:
- Reducing the amount of social security a person would receive.
- Create opportunities for further career progression and income.
- Positively contributes to a persons physical, social and mental state.
How supported employees and their families benefit from our organisation
The Cookery Nook is a social enterprise initiative, providing meaningful work and volunteering opportunities for people with a disability. Each employee is supported to identify their career goals and staff work alongside them to identify training opportunities, professional development experiences and career pathways to achieve these goals. Acknowledging difficulties some people may find in other environments, we pride ourselves on our supportive environment that understands and encourages the individual to be all they can be. In addition to the practical work skills, each person is developing relationships and learning other important life skills that will asssit in their everyday lives.
