The contribution we make to the ADE community
Self Help Workplace is an important contributor to the economy of Tasmania. With a customer list of over 250 businesses throughout the state, Self Help Workplace enjoys a reputation for providing quality goods and services delivered in full and on time. We also offer much needed employment in a region with one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation. For over 50 years, Self Help Workplace has worked to provide people with a disability with meaningful and productive work so they can enjoy independent and fulfilling lives.
How supported employees and their families benefit from our organisation
Self Help Workplace is much more than just a place of our work. Self Help Workplace's employees participate in a range of activities during work hours to support them to acquire independent living skills. These include a kitchen garden, cooking, personal and work hygiene, a literacy and numeracy program and accredited training. Our workers committee (made up of 6 supported employees) is active in making suggestions to improve the workplace and raises over $250 each year for local charities.
